At NAMI Beaver County, you will find unconditional support and be a part of a very caring group of individuals who provide quality support groups and services to anyone who walks through our door and joins us online.
NAMI Beaver County’s mission is to provide advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.
The values that NAMI encompass and embrace are hope, inclusion, empowerment, compassion, and fairness.
NAMI Beaver County adheres to these values and this mission through high quality NAMI signature programs such as the Connection Recovery Support Group and the Family Support Group. We also offer mental health education classes with Family to Family as well as the Peer-to-Peer program. In addition, NAMI Beaver County also offers specialized groups that are unique to Beaver County, such as the Rising Stars Young Adult Group & Momma Bears.

“Spring Adds New Life & New Beauty to All That Is”
Spring truly signifies change, does it not? Growth and color are natural occurrences this time each year. It is not unique to seasons, either. Our lives modify and adapt with new circumstances, requirements, opportunities, and issues. Recognizing that change occurs for everyone and everything is an important step toward embracing these differences as they occur. This means that we can have less stress and anxiety as we adapt to change and realize what we do and do not have control over. This can be helpful for all of us!
Some other thoughts on spring from Psychology Today:
“The healing potential of spring is undeniable, from effecting the remission of Seasonal Affective Disorder to the increased production of Vitamin D. Once ignored, Vitamin D has become a staple of annual physical exams and a critical part of the healing regimen for cancer survivors. Vitamin D is involved in promoting bone health, proper cell differentiation, and boosting immunity.
Like spring, hope is a potent ally in sustaining health and recovering from illness. This is because hope is made collectively from the same bio-psycho-social stuff that investigators have separately associated with well-being (perceived control, social support, self-regulation, and spirituality). A survey of oncologists revealed that more than 90 percent cited hope as the primary psychological factor that impacts mortality.”

It is a great time to be involved with NAMI, as we offer several virtual support groups and are prepared for in-person meetings, classes, and groups in the coming months. Being a member of NAMI will provide you with many benefits, such as correspondence from NAMI National and updates regarding all of NAMI programming. In addition, the funds that you provide for membership or donations allows us to continue to provide high quality human service programs and new opportunities as well!
We look forward to serving you virtually and in-person as the year progresses. There is a lot to look forward to in our community!
